Companies House Personal Code: What It Is and How to Use It
From 18 November 2025, Companies House will introduce new identity verification requirements. Under these rules, every verified company officer will be issued a unique personal code, which is essential for carrying out key company-related actions.
1. What Is a Companies House Personal Code and Why Is It Required?
A Companies House personal code is a unique 11-character reference number issued once your identity has been successfully verified under the new regulations.
You will need this code to:
-
Register a new company
-
Be appointed as a director or Person with Significant Control (PSC)
-
File confirmation statements or submit information on behalf of a company
Without a valid personal code, these actions cannot be completed with Companies House.
2. How Do You Obtain a Personal Code?
You can receive your personal code by completing the identity verification process in one of the following ways:
-
Directly through Companies House, or
-
Via a registered Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP), such as us
We recommend completing verification through our secure online portal. Once your ID check is complete and all documents have been approved, we will submit your verified details to Companies House on your behalf.
Companies House will then issue your personal code and send it directly to you by email.
3. How to Share Your Personal Code With Us
After receiving your personal code, please provide it to us securely so we can:
-
Link your verified identity to your current or future companies
-
Ensure director appointments and filings are correctly authorised
-
Keep your company records fully compliant with the updated regulations
You can share your personal code via:
-
Our secure client portal, or
-
By contacting our support team, who will advise on a safe and secure method to provide the code
